Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Time Registration Paid Lunches
In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 and R3 Time and Attendance functionality allows a worker’s scheduled lunch break to be automatically deducted when calculating hours for a work day. However, there may be times when the dedicated worker does not take a lunch break and works through their lunch and needs to be compensated. An adjustment can easily be made to pay the worker for the scheduled lunch break using the following steps:
Time Registration: Paid Lunches
A standard day time profile with an open schedule is 24 hours with a regular break for ½ hour break for lunch. If an employee works through lunch, the scheduled break has to be cancelled at approval.
Open Time Profile
The path to Time profiles setting in Microsoft AX 2012 is Human resources > Setup > Time and attendance > Time profile > Profiles
Day shift workers start a working day in the morning, usually take a break around 11:30am till 12pm and clock out in the afternoon. A simple open schedule profile for the daily shift is set from 12am till 11:59pm with a ½ hour break. The break is automatically deducted when the time for a day is calculated.
The Secondary time type is applied when the regular break is skipped or canceled:
Cancel Break Activity
A category Cancel Break with the Registration type = “Break” has been setup in Human resources > Setup > Time and attendance > Indirect activities:
Pay Agreements
The path to Pay agreements setting in Microsoft AX 2012 is Human resources > Setup > Time and attendance > Payroll > Pay agreements.
The pay agreement OT40hrs is referenced in the open profile OpenD as shown above. The Profile type has to be blank on the Standard time and Overtime lines to allow breaks to be included in the standard time calculated when cancelled.
Approval
The path to the Approve form in Microsoft AX 2012 is Human resources > Common > Time and attendance > Approve.
For the scenario with the Profile = OpenD, Clock in is at 7am, and Clock out is at 3:30pm, the lunch is deducted automatically and the total hours worked = 8:
When a Break line is inserted in the lower pane of the Approve form and the reference for the record is selected as Cancel Brk, the total hours is re-calculated with the cancelled break as the hours worked = 8.5:
