Microsoft Takes 2017 Business Intelligence and Analytics Magic Quadrant by Storm
While Dynamics 365 has dominated discussion in the past few months, the latest Gartner report for BI and analytics is a great reminder that the shiny new cloud-based ERP/CRM powerhouse has a serious supporting cast that is very capable of standing alone.
Leaders Lead
In their new business intelligence and analytics report for February 2017, Gartner has once again named Microsoft a leader. There are at least two things worth mentioning here; the first is that this is that this is their tenth consecutive year of being named a leader. The second? This year shows quite frankly a gigantic leap ahead of the competition in terms of completeness of vision AND ability to execute. While Tableau goes toe to toe in the ability to execute, there aren’t really any others close, especially in terms of completeness of vision.
While it is exciting to see, we shouldn’t be entirely surprised by the news. We have seen a major commitment from Microsoft in terms of business intelligence since Power BI made its debut in 2015.
The 2017 full Microsoft portion of the report can be viewed here as soon as it is made available, but you can check out the quadrant and further analysis here.
